Day 2: Semangat

Cutter i/c for the day. So many things to pack, so little time, just like back in the army preparing for mission. Brought back memories. Anyway, it was a good thing that everyone was there to help: packing and carrying. It's really one for all, all for one as we suffered under the blazing hot sun. Sunblock time.

Row, row, row your boat ...

Semangat, Nehru's cutter. So happy and excited as we secured every thing and prepared for our sail. Rowing the cutter with the heavy oars was fun too, no doubt tiring, as we shouted 'Dip, pull...' There's nothing more pleasing than to hear 'oars' from the captain, signalling a stop to the rowing.

Being on the cutter was really fun: it's like filming some pirates show. Sweltering heat aside, I could almost hear my skin complaining.

As the first time sailing for all of us, we were learning the roles on board, whether is it manning the jib, main sails or steering the cutter, there was never an end to activities. Team work is definitely important for sailing as different parts of the cutter need to be activated at the same time to make full advantage of the wind.
Supposed to reach Sembawang camp site but due to a lack of time, we ended up stopping at Pasir Ris. It was rather late by then and we hurriedly split the tasks of settling in into groups: pitching, cooking, rowing etc.

Really amazing. No doubt tiring and there's so much more to learn.
