Goodbye for the last time

It's time to say goodbye to Singapore for the last time as I embarked towards London for my final year of studies. It had been a wonderful break: meals with family, time with friends and just rotting at home. It seemed silly that I was yearning to leave but as the day to departure got closer, I wasn't as excited as before. Well, it's my final year and as the song Kiss the rain looped in my mind, I knew that I will make it a great year.

FYP choice

It's not even the start of the term and we were asked to make an initial preference for our FYP. Not only was the FYP list incomplete, we were supposed to choose them based on the short descriptions given. I knew I was being particular but I was really scared of FYP: it's akin to doing an individual coursework with 100 times the demand and 100 times less time. Alright, I was exaggerating about the time but that did not negate the fact of working alone. Choices!

Pizza Hut

Pizza Nite

Always wanted to enjoy pizza in the comforts of the home and did just that. We ordered the cheesy bite treats, which looked so tantalizing on TV, and some other add-ons. I could only say that advertising always makes products better than what they seem. Alright, I may be too demanding but I doubt I will want to have ordered-in pizzas at home again: the pizzas just ain't that crisp.

Tarafuku

Ah, another get together meal before I fly off to my second home, London. It had been a busy time for most of us and we needed all the nourishment from the buffet at Tarafuku.

Shabu shabu with lots of fried stuff

Runny yolk

Dessert

Appetiser

Creme Brulee, Milk Pudding & Cream Puff

Matcha gelato

Tarafuku had a feel similar to that of Sakura International Buffet but had a much smaller spread. Food-wise, sad to say, there was nothing significantly different or better.

Army guys meetup

Army days
It's been a long time since I met up with this bunch of guys and I was slightly reticent initially. However, after a meal at Sizzler's and a couple of beers, it's nice to hear about them. After all, these are the group of people who endured with me through unit life.

Topics ranged from uni life to work life to love life. Of course, we reminisced about army stuffs (we were a bunch of guys after all...). Some guys went for study exchanges to Europe and asked about my opinion but I supposed I had little to offer. It was akin to staying in Singapore but ignorant about the wonders in it. As a result, I am determined to make my last year as meaningful as possible! While some of us are still studying, a couple of guys have started working and doing rather impressively as well.

Northern Light in Singapore

Well, it's not exactly the actual northern lights but the Marina Bay Sands' light and water show came real close to emulating it. With a spectacular CBD backdrop, lots of mist and fascinating pyrotechnics, it's a must for Singaporeans and tourists to see the show at least once. Having bubbles at parts of the the 22 minutes show brought the experience to a new high. In my opinion, the show could challenge even those found in Las Vegas. Point to note though, the storyline could be more general rather than having a NE message. Nonetheless, it was a magical moment.

It's my birthday!

Another year, another birthday. Much as I was slightly depressed that I will be growing older, I was glad of birthdays in general. Never have I felt so happy for birthdays to be the chance to meet up with friends and family (definitely not for any presents), but for the opportunity to enjoy the precious time together. This is especially true as we grow up and that our time has inevitably stretched too thin. Perhaps it's just an excuse to hang out, but I was glad for it. I supposed there wasn't any need for birthday wishes as these are good enough for me.

Joan Bowen Cafe

Met JH for dinner and since it was my birthday, he decided to treat me. We ordered the chicken schnitzel, pan fried dory and oreo cheesecake. As I was running really late (I missed my stop and lost my way...), JH started with the cheesecake. It was lucky that I reached in time, else I would have missed the dessert (nah, I'm sure he will leave some for me). Anyway, the food was comparable, if not better than other restaurant's. Price-wise, it may be slightly more expensive than average but I feel that the service made up for it. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the serene environment.

Financial independence

Call me stubborn but I yearn for financial independence. Sure, who wouldn't mind the extra cash but I will never feel comfortable about it. No matter, it will be a year till the end of my studies and then we shall see.

My Laptop is back

In the midst of the third year of my university education, my laptop gave up on me. It was at such a crucial moment when I was busy in my group project. Lucky JH was there to exchange my laptop for his and sent mine for servicing. Now that my laptop was back, I hope that it could last the last push.
