@ 4Fingers

Amidst the shopping in Ion Orchard, we had a late afternoon snack at 4Fingers. The soy and garlic chicken was cleverly served out of a mess tin and was 4Fingers-licking good.

@ Daruma Ramen

Tonkotsu ramen

This ramen is unlike others as it's from Hong Kong and is supposed to be one of the top five in HK. The menu is really simple with only three soup bases to choose from. For the shoyu and tonkotsu soup, you can even opt for the lighter version. We tried the recommended tonkotsu ramen at Daruma Ramen while they were having their 1-for-1 deals. C went for the original soup while I wanted to taste the lighter alternative. It turned out that the lighter version was a little bland for my liking. Noodle-wise, the ramen was very Q but perhaps too thick. The seaweed and fungus tasted rather synthetic while the soft-boiled egg wasn't consistent. Luckily, its tender meat and the interesting dried chili threads saved my day.

And another left

And another colleague left the team
Surprise to some and none
How do people make such life-changing decisions
With a stride and don't look back
While times ahead will be tougher,
We are glad for him.

@ Hatched

It was J's last week and we decided to have a farewell brunch at Hatched. I've always wanted to try Hatched due to its interesting concept revolving around eggs. The place at Holland Village was nicely decorated and seemed a good place for a gathering.

I ordered the Sir Benedict (do two for $19) which consisted of poached egg sitting on a half-muffin with ham and bacon. It came with a homemade mash dressed with mushroom sauce, which was lovely but got cold too quickly. I didn't really enjoy the food though. Somehow the egg didn't taste as nice as what I'm used to have. Perhaps it's the hollandaise sauce. Whatever the reason, I wasn't impressed by the standard of the food for the price that it was charged. Service was present but nothing commendable.

Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness

It's been ages since I catch a movie in a theatre and thankfully it was on Star Trek. I remembered the revamped Star Trek in 2009 which blew my mind. This sequel made a good standalone but fell short against its predecessor. The plot was too predictable. Nonetheless, the action was exciting and the movie's saving grace fell on its stellar casts as we saw Captain Kirk and Mr Spock pit against the manipulative Khan. The character development was engaging. I look forward to an even better sequel.

@ Kraze Burger

It was dinner time at PS and every restaurant was ridiculously packed. We almost gave up until we chanced upon Kraze Burger at PS extension.

At Kraze Burger

The restaurant was reasonably packed and service was good. All the pictures of the burgers in the menu looked really tempting, but we quickly ordered our food in view of our growling stomach. Little did we know that we had to wait at least 15 minutes before our appetizer arrived.

Garlic fries

The Matiz

With half an hour to our movie, we quickly gobbled our food. The garlic fries were good, albeit expensive. The burger was passable, but nothing fantastic. Perhaps the bun-less semi-nude burger will be better.

Which way to go?

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

Sometimes I wish decisions in life can be made clearer and simpler, or perhaps I am over-thinking. What if we took a wrong turn in life and left in a dead end? Can we make a u-turn?

@ Owl Cafe

Owl Cafe

Chicken Salad

Hainanese Chicken Rice

A meetup with the gang. We were undecided on our dinner venue and ended up at Owl Cafe. As it was dinner time, the seats were mostly taken up and we had to settle for the outdoor. While the outdoor setting seemed nice, the humidity and irritating insects were repulsive.

I ordered the Hainanese chicken rice and we shared a chicken salad. As E put it, everything was fried chicken. I wouldn't have mind if the quality is good. Sad to say, the food was uninspiring.

A big breakfast

Sis surprised us with a big breakfast.
