Singaporeans often complain that there is a lack of activities in Singapore other than the usual eating and movie-watching. How about exploring one of the many green areas such as cycling around Punggol Settlement. There is plenty to offer to relax the body and mind. Plus, it is a cheap and healthy activity.

Happy 15 Birthday

Happy 15 birthday! Not to me, but to my organisation. It was a birthday bash held at Universal Studios Singapore exclusively to my company. Buffet dinner was included and the food by RWS was really good. Most importantly, we were treated to the thrill rides without the queue. You could even conquer Battlestar Galactica as many times as you like. How awesome was that.

Fireworks, a perfect way to celebrate a birthday and also a wonderful way to round up the June holidays. Such an experience couldn't have come cheap but it's gestures like these that made the people really happy and looking forward to the many years ahead.

Hai Di Lao has been in Singapore for awhile but R and I had yet to patronise it. As it's for R's birthday treat, we decided to try out Hai Di Lao at 313, Somerset. It was 7pm dinner time when we started queueing and we were already 200 people behind. We could not believe the queue and decided to wait. Hai Di Lao is known for its service and sure enough, we were provided with snacks and drinks while waiting. I heard that you could even book for a nail polish too. After waiting for 30 minutes, not even the snacks could satisfy us and thus, we left defeated.

Note to self, remember to make a reservation before going.

The twin room that I had really made my day. The beds were so comfortable that I almost wanted to spend my whole stay with them. You could even request for extra pillows or blankets.

If you manage to get a room on the high level floors, you will be overseeing the Singapore river. A really impressive view in my opinion.

Breakfast buffet at Café Brio

Breakfast at Café Brio is complimentary with the hotel stay and the breakfast timing is until 1030 hours. However, try not to turn up at the later hours like myself as I had to queue for 15 minutes before getting a table. Café Brio offers a decent breakfast spread from the standard Western and Chinese to Indian and even Japanese. There is also an egg corner where you can request for freshly made sunny side-up, omelette or scrambled eggs. I was glad with the quality of the food.

Post-breakfast and you can probably work it out at the well-equipped gym on level 6.

Or sign up for some tennis at the tennis court (level 6). During my stay, there were kids from sanwa tennis academy having their lesson.

Or you can just end up like me, chilling away my life by the swimming pool.

ICT Number 2

ICT number 2 has just concluded. It had been a tough but memorable ICT where my unit completed our ATEC and managed to score an overall redcon 2A. It was particularly moving to experience the fighting spirit throughout the exercise even though all of us were tired. Good job to the charging edge for the success and the end of another milestone. 

Niece's First Month Celebration

And we came gathered to celebrate my niece's first month. Such an adorable and well-behaved baby that brings a smile to everyone.

Cousin's wedding

Cousin's wedding lunch was held at Changi Airport Crowne Plaza Hotel. The venue was cozy and perfect for a smaller sized wedding. The most memorable would be the couple's speech that was filled with so much love for each other and their new families. Many blissful year ahead.

Grandpa's 91st Birthday

Other than Chinese New Year, the only occasion seeing all my relatives gathered together will be during my grandpa's birthday. Lots of catching up and laughter. Here's wishing grandpa good health.

Thank You & Farewell

It had been a sombre week as we mourned the passing of our first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. As a generation which benefitted from the results of the multitude of policies he implemented, we may not have realised how tough the journey of nation building could be. Even from the documentaries and International tributes, we could only glimpse on this giant. However, it is thanks to his dedication that we achieved what we have today. We could not have come so far without him. Thank you, Mr Lee. May you rest in peace.

Do the right thing

In the past few days, I came across two people who said the same thing: "Do also get scolded, don't do also get scolded." While I empathised their thinking, I did not agree with them. Personally, I believe in doing the right thing.

Welcoming 2015

It was going to be 2015 soon and the nearby park had a massive celebration to welcome the new year. Before that, I wanted to fuel up and the best supper had to be kway chap. It was a 30 minute queue but totally worth it.

A short walk to the park turned out to take awhile as there were simply too many people. It was as if the neighbouring estates turned up for this joyous celebration.

Counting down to the new year and welcoming it with bursts of fireworks. It was small, cute but really livened up the atmosphere.

Merry Xmas 2014

Ho Ho Ho! It's Christmas once again as we gathered to celebrate with friends and family. This year, we had a BBQ at A's place followed by a gift exchange. Thankfully the weather was kind to us and everyone had fun. I may have over indulged on my favourite BBQ chicken wings and A's specially concocted sangria though. After all, it's the festive mood of Christmas.

Elusive Neighbour

I was running in the park and finally got the chance to meet my elusive neighbour, the otter. Much attention was drawn to it and people were standing on the bridge to observe. It sure brought a joy to my run.
