Went to The Cathay to catch four short thesis films put by students of Laselle.
Missing (PG), set in Penang, was about a mother who wanted to go back to how life was and her missing child. Her decisions affected those of the supervising officer.
Toilet (PG) was about a dysfunctional family in which the mother believed that the cane is the tool to order. The toilet thus became a contradictory place for escape and self-realisation.
The miracle (PG) was about a dying patient pleading with his nurse to help him end his life.
Tanjong Rhu (R21) was about homosexuality and how Singapore and Singaporeans deal with the issue.
It was definitely enjoyable, especially Missing and Tanjong Rhu. Toilet and The miracle proved too difficult for me to understand, yet appreciate it.
Am hoping that Singapore would be more supportive of such a small pool of talents.
