@ Grand Mandarin Restaurant

A promotion treat by E at Grand Mandarin restaurant. Housed along New Bridge road, the location seemed a bit out of place for this restaurant and this was contrasted by the luxurious décor within. There were not much crowd on a Saturday afternoon and we were quickly seated. Enough said and let the food speak for itself.

Honey glazed barbequed pork loin
(This was sinfully good)

Fried soft shell crab with chicken floss and curry leaves
(Decent curry taste but not outstanding)

Tofu with crab meat and egg white in carrot broth
(Awesome grilled mushroom and smooth tofu in a tantalising broth)

Stir-fried crystal vermicelli with pork collar in XO sauce
(Good ingredient to noodle ratio and decent but couldn't taste much XO)

Steamed crystal dumpling with assorted mushroom
(Disappointing thick skin with bland ingredients)

Steamed homemade rice roll
(Average)

Steamed pork dumpling with fish roe
(Yummy)

Steamed custard bun with salted egg yolk
(The taste wasn't quite right)

Fresh durian with red bean paste and coconut ice-cream served in coconut shell
(We were snatching over this awesome dessert)

Chilled pumpkin puree with yam ice-cream
(Pretty and delicious)

Grand Mandarin has an extensive menu for the mains which includes the very expensive Empurau fish. Overall, the mains and desserts stood out the most. If you are dining there, there is also an $0.88 promotion for afternoon dim sum.
